Volunteer at Florida College Access Network’s seventh annual summit and help us make this our best summit yet! The FCAN Summit offers a unique forum for Florida’s education and community leaders to come together to exchange and collaborate. This year, we are encouraging summit attendees to engage their peers in candid conversations about the barriers Florida students face today and how we can create meaningful change that will help students succeed.

Overview

The 2019 FCAN Summit will be held at the Rosen Centre Orlando (9840 International Drive). The summit program begins at 8:00AM Tuesday, May 7 with the day’s activities coming to a close with a showing of the documentary “Unlikely” starting at 7:00PM and followed by a discussion. The second day begins at 7:30AM on Wednesday, May 8 with a breakfast and policy session and concludes with the last round of concurrent sessions at 3:15PM.

Expectations and Responsibilities

Volunteers are expected to be present and actively participate to ensure the events of the day run smoothly. Duties will include, but are not limited to, monitoring breakout session rooms, keeping time for speakers, welcoming presenters and ensuring A/V equipment is working properly (and coordinating with event staff when issues arise), keeping session rooms tidy, making sure speaker materials are handed out and collected, taking notes on presentations for social media posts, helping take questions or running microphones for presenters (in general and breakout sessions), guiding people to presentation locations, and helping attendees with basic program information. Volunteers are expected to dress professionally for this event, and are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.

Benefits

FCAN is committed to ensuring every summit cultivates purposeful opportunities for learning, professional development, networking, and information dissemination. To encourage involvement from the future generation of change makers, we are offering our student volunteers complimentary admission, meals (two lunches, one breakfast, and a reception), and hotel parking passes to the conference. We hope our volunteers will take advantage of this experience to grow professionally, expand their professional network, and learn more about Florida college and career access and achievement. Please note that these benefits do not include a hotel stay. If you wish to stay at the summit hotel, please make your reservation before April 15 to secure the conference rate, though this is subject to availability.

Qualifications

Student volunteers must be able to ensure personal transportation to the conference so they may arrive in a timely manner. Applicants must provide verification that they are over the age of 18 and currently enrolled in a university, college, or technical degree program.
