The Gateway Logistics and Manufacturing Training Center in Glades County is now open, and will offer its first certification training program in 2016. The center will provide regional residents with training and certification in high-demand fields, thereby boosting students’ employment prospects and building the regional talent pool. Glades and Hendry Counties participate in the FutureMakers Coalition, a five-county local college access network in Southwest Florida that is working to increase the number of degree and certificate holders to 40 percent by 2025.

The goal of the center is to provide training in high-demand skilled trades to students who are underemployed or unemployed. Local colleges, including Polk State College, Florida SouthWestern State College, and Palm Beach State College are collaborating to develop curricula for programs at the center.
