We are thrilled to introduce you to LaVerne Handfield, who joins Team FCAN as the programs coordinator in charge of our College Ready Florida activities.
Laverne comes to us after spending a year as an AmeriCorps Vista from the Fort Dodge Community School District in Iowa supporting their college application and FAFSA completion efforts. She’s a great resource for you as you look to grow your College Ready Florida efforts!
Those efforts include the Florida FAFSA Challenge, which seeks to increase the proportion of 12th graders who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The statewide campaign continues through March, so don’t forget to check out your school or district’s progress at our interactive dashboard. There’s another month and a half remaining in the Florida FAFSA Challenge and, for some students, gaining early access to these federal funds will make the difference as to whether they can attend college.
