Postsecondary Enrollment (Demographics)
Postsecondary enrollment reflects the share of high school graduates who enroll in a Florida public college or university within one year of graduation. Examining enrollment patterns across race/ethnicity, sex, and socioeconomic status provides important insight into how different student groups transition from high school into postsecondary education. Disaggregating these outcomes helps identify where gaps in access may exist and where progress is being made in expanding opportunity across student populations.
FCS/SUS Graduation Rate
Cohort graduation rates measure institutional success by capturing the share of first-time, full-time, degree-seeking students who complete their credential within 150% of normal program time (three years for associate degrees and six years for bachelor’s degrees). These rates provide a key indicator of how effectively institutions support students from entry through completion.
Understanding these patterns provides important context for strengthening student persistence, improving completion outcomes, and advancing statewide goals for postsecondary attainment.
FCS/SUS Enrollment Status
Florida’s public postsecondary system includes 28 Florida College System (FCS) institutions and 12 State University System (SUS) institutions that together provide accessible, high-quality education pathways for residents, as well as out-of-state and international students. FCS institutions primarily serve an in-state student population, while SUS institutions enroll a more geographically diverse student body, including a growing share of students from outside Florida. Tracking these enrollment patterns helps contextualize how the state’s postsecondary system supports both resident access and broader student populations.
