Florida College Access Network (FCAN) has selected 12 students to participate in the fifth annual Student Fellowship.
The Student Fellowship, led by the FCAN Policy Team, empowers college students across the state to build their communication skills while championing policies that expand access to higher education.
The 2025-26 program begins in September and will run through January. Students will join monthly meetings that will cover the state legislative process, storytelling strategies, and civic leadership. Additionally, fellows will collaborate with peers, engage with community leaders, and participate in FCAN’s Days at the Capitol, a two-day event in Tallahassee to share their experiences directly with staff.
Four leaders from local college access networks will provide support and mentorship to the students. Through this collaboration, fellows will gain practical insights, leadership skills, and community engagement experience, all of which will help prepare them with their academic and professional career.
Policy Priorities:
FCAN’s 2026 Policy Priorities highlight actionable steps that state leaders, education institutions, and communities can take to advance affordability for students and families seeking to cover the total cost of post-secondary education and training in Florida. They include:
- Expanding Access to the Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)
- Supporting Emergency Student Aid Programs
- Strengthening Dual Enrollment Financial and Outcome Reporting
