At the upcoming Talent Strong Florida Summit on May 5-7 in Orlando, one of the standout sessions will focus on strengthening Florida’s workforce through collaborative partnerships and education alignment. The session, titled Closing the Gap – Fueling Florida’s Workforce, presents a vision for realizing Opportunity for Everyone, one of FCAN’s Seven Conditions for Success, which highlights the critical need for all Floridians to have greater access to postsecondary education and robust support systems to build a talent-strong economy.

Altony Lee III, Associate Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs at the State University System (SUS) of Florida, will lead the session and share insights into how the SUS is working to elevate graduates’ social mobility and contribute to Florida’s economic growth.
This year, the State University System (SUS) of Florida unveiled its new strategic plan, and this session will provide attendees with an exclusive preview. Comprised of 12 institutions, the SUS has played a pivotal role in tackling workforce shortages across the state. By fostering strong partnerships with key industry stakeholders, SUS institutions are equipping graduates with the skills needed for high-demand careers. This session will offer education leaders an in-depth look at how academic programs are aligning with workforce needs, enhancing career readiness, and promoting social mobility for graduates.
