Sarah Owen, President and CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, is one of four finalists in the running for New-Press’s 2015 Person of the Year. The News-Press editorial board and community members selected the finalists out of 65 impressive nominations.
The prestigious title is awarded to a Southwest Florida resident who exemplifies generosity and a commitment to the local community.
Owen is recognized for her service as president and CEO of the foundation as well as her effort leading the FutureMakers Coalition, a regional initiative with the goal of transforming the Southwest Florida workforce by increasing college degree and postsecondary certification completion from 27 percent to 40 percent by the year 2025.
In a News-Press article, fellow nominee Dean Piccarillo called Owen, “a true thought leader in the field of philanthropy who challenges us all to think carefully about whether we’re maximizing our contributions of time, talent, and treasure to our community.”
Finalists will be honored on February 18th during a breakfast at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. Tickets are available for purchase here.
