There are about 3,000 students who were formerly in foster care and are currently enrolled in SUS (State University of Florida) and FCS (Florida College System) institutions.
In the latest episode of FCAN’s Summit Speaker Series, Dr. Steve Rios — Senior Director for the Positive Pathways program at Educate Tomorrow — previews his session at the 2018 Florida College Access Network Summit.
The Summit Speaker Series gives a select group of presenters the opportunity to share information about their sessions prior to the summit, which will take place May 10-11 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. Dr. Rios will present a session title, “Clear Answers to Perplexing Questions About Students Who Grew Up in Foster Care,” alongside Brett McNaught, Chief Executive Officer of Educate Tomorrow.
On the eve of National Foster Care Month in May, Dr. Rios talked about the growth in the number of foster care students with bachelor degrees during the last four year, the challenges foster care students face, and more during his chat with FCAN.
