Graduating high school seniors who haven’t met the test score eligibility requirement for Bright Futures still have time to register and take the SAT or ACT, but time is running out.

The last day to submit test scores for Bright Futures eligibility isn’t until June 30th, but there are only four testing dates remaining with registration deadlines approaching soon.  See the testing dates and registration deadlines below:

ACT:

Test Date: April 18; Registration Deadline: March 13 (Late registration with $24 fee available through March 27)
Test Date: June 13; Registration Deadline: May 8 (Late registration with $24 fee available through May 22)

SAT:

Test Date: May 2; Registration Deadline: April 6 (Sign-in for late registration options here)
Test Date: June 6; Registration Deadline: May 8

Testing requirements for Bright Futures rose significantly last year, placing more pressure on students to take and re-take the exams to qualify for the scholarship.  Florida Medallion Scholars now need a 1170 SAT/26 ACT score with Florida Academic Scholars needing a 1290 SAT/29 ACT score in addition to meeting other eligibility criteria such as grade point average and community service hours.

For more information on the remaining test dates, visit the ACT and SAT websites.  To learn more about each of the eligibility requirements and award amounts for the scholarship, refer to the Florida Department of Education’s Office of Student Financial Assistance Bright Futures handbook.
