The Florida College Access Network (FCAN) has released a new policy brief: Florida Aims to Boost the Number of Pell Students Attending Our State Universities: What Can Be Done to Achieve This Goal?

The brief applauds the State University System goal, presents key questions, and offers available data to explore what opportunities may exist to expand access at Florida’s 12 public universities for Pell Grant recipients. The report includes projected student enrollment growth by institution through 2029, changes in the share of Pell awardees from 2014-2023, and application and admission rates by institution.

The report suggests expanding access for Pell students to Florida’s public universities can help bridge the talent gap and stands to reap massive economic gains for Florida.  In fact, a 10% increase in postsecondary enrollment could generate $8.38 billion annually for Florida’s economy, according to Helios Education Foundation.
