Florida College Access Network (FCAN) is excited to announce this year’s Keynote Session Speakers for the Talent Strong Florida Summit – Access for All!

“We’re thrilled to have Maurice Allen, Paul J. Luna, and Narietha Carter-McClain as this year’s keynote speakers. Each keynote speaker brings a unique perspective on the “Access for All” summit theme that promises to inform and inspire all education stakeholders,” said Braulio Colón, Executive Director, FCAN.

Together, we are working to create a talent strong Florida that promotes college readiness, access, and success for all.

Maurice Allen is a native Floridian and three-time world long drive champion from Pine Hills in Orlando, FL.  

He attended Maynard Evans High School in Orange County, where he excelled in academics and athletics, and Florida A&M University, where he ran track while attaining his Biology and Chemistry degrees in 2010.

Paul J. Luna, a nationally recognized leader in philanthropy, education, and community development, serves as President and CEO of the Helios Education Foundation. He brings 30 years of public and private professional experience, strategically cultivating strong community relationships in Arizona and Florida. A native of Miami, Arizona, Mr. Luna graduated from Miami High School, and as a first-generation college student, attended Stanford University, where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering.

High-spirited Narietha Carter-McClain declares herself as “an around the way girl” and shines a special light on her education research interests, which include college readiness programming financing, voluntary and involuntary immigrant populations’ postsecondary education, educational intent vs. educational accomplishments of immigrant and minoritized populations, as well as educational equity for women, especially women of color.Mrs. Carter-McClain received her B.A. in English from Texas A&M University, her Masters of Public Service Administration from The Bush School of Government & Public Service, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Education Leadership, Policy, & Administration from Texas A&M University.
