Preparing to go to college can be a daunting challenge for any potential student, whether it’s an 8th grader entering high school or an adult learner figuring out how to balance education with work and family responsibilities.

Next month, FloridaShines and its partners will host “College 101: Think It, Plan It, Do It,” a series of free webinars designed to assist students regardless of what stage of life they are in.

Each session will focus on a different segment of the student population:

Adult Learners (February 3)

Earn a credential, advance your career. Education is one of the best ways to move up to a better job or prepare for a new career. This session will help you understand your options, financial aid, and how to build a schedule that works with your life.

High School Seniors (February 10)

You’ve been accepted. Now, how to pay for it? FAFSA, FFAA, evaluating financial aid offers, verification. Tune in to this session to make sense of the financial aid maze so you can build a solid plan to cover the cost of college.

High School Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors (February 17)

  • Monique Byrd, District College & Career Specialist, Office of School Counseling, Polk County Public Schools

There are multiple pathways to success. Which is right for you? Do you have a plan for life after high school? Enroll, enlist, employ?  Learn how to map out your future, take the next steps to prepare, and find scholarships to make it all possible. Don’t wait – senior year is just around the corner!

8th Graders (February 24)
