Through community-wide efforts, last year Florida increased FAFSA completion by 9.1% through March 2017, which brought an additional $37 million in Pell Grants to college freshmen statewide. This support is critical in helping students go to college.
FCAN’s 2017-18 Florida FAFSA Challenge is now underway! Come learn the latest news about the challenge, including the addition of new categories, and how to make the most of the data dashboard to drive results for our students in the upcoming webinar, “Busting the Affordability Barrier: What You Need to Know About This Year’s Florida FAFSA Challenge.”
The webinar will take place December 12 from 10 to 11 a.m., but you can register for the event now.
Join Amy Bolick, FCAN’s Statewide Programs Coordinator, and Kimberly Lent, FCAN’s Senior Research Associate, for a discussion of 2017-18 FAFSA season updates. FCAN will share strategies for tracking and boosting FAFSA completion and will look at how to get the most out of the FAFSA Challenge data dashboard. Special guest Ralph Aiello — Director, School Counseling, Broward County Public Schools & BRACE (Broward Advisors for Continuing Education) — will share how Broward’s school district has initiated its own FAFSA Challenge.
In this session you will learn:
- New ways of using the dashboard to glean insights that motivate action
- Results from last year’s challenge and how you can use local results to garner community support (e.g. in-kind donations, grants, or scholarships)
- How Broward is taking the FAFSA challenge to the next level by setting individualized school goals that recognize local school context
Register for the Florida FAFSA Challenge and join over 280 schools committed to busting the affordability barrier.
