Florida’s 2+2 transfer pathway is an essential mechanism for increasing postsecondary access and attainment, closing equity and opportunity gaps, and developing a highly skilled and educated workforce.  Join Troy Miller, FCAN’s Associate Director for Research and Policy, and an exciting lineup of presenters for a webinar to learn about how colleges and universities in Florida are using partnerships and pathways to get transfer students to the finish line.

Building on state policies that have been in existence for decades, virtually all state colleges and universities now have enhanced articulation agreements between institutions, which can guarantee admission to a specific university for students who earn an associate’s degree and meet other benchmarks and criteria. These partnerships rely on evidence-based strategies and provide students tailored advising and other supports that promote degree completion.

To highlight best practices and evidence-based approaches included in FCAN’s recent brief, presenters on the webinar will include:

  • Madeline Pumariega, Chancellor, Florida College System
  • Dr. Janie Valdes, Assistant Vice President, Undergraduate Education, Florida International University
  • Dr. Jeff Jones, Vice Provost, UCF Connect / UCF Global, University of Central Florida
  • Dr. Fai Howard, Assistant Dean for Upper-Level Initiatives, University of South Florida

In addition to learning more about transfer programs like DirectConnect to UCF (University of Central Florida), Connect4Success at FIU (Florida International University), and FUSE at USF (University of South Florida), attendees will also learn how Florida’s transfer policies have changed over time, outcomes for transfer students, and additional opportunities for strengthening Florida’s transfer student pipeline.
