- Dr. James “JW” Kelley, Associate Vice President of Student Services, North Carolina Community College System
- Allison H. Gahrmann, Finish Line Grant Coordinator, North Carolina Community College System
FCAN Host: Adam Lindberg, Director of Research and Policy
North Carolina first implemented its Finish Line Grant Program in 2018 as a partnership between the state’s Department of Commerce and its community college system. In an effort to support students with emergency aid, this program provides relief to students in North Carolina community colleges facing an unprecedented financial emergency that could prevent them from completing their certificate or degree. These funds may be used for course materials, housing, medical needs, or other financial circumstances. Most recently, North Carolina saw the approval of a $3.75 million allocation for this program this past August.
As FCAN continues to advocate for need- and emergency-based aid programs in our home state of Florida, come listen to the experts behind a successful emergency aid program that has already helped thousands of students in North Carolina.
Please get your questions ready and consider submitting them ahead of time! When our special guests conclude their presentation, we’ll have time allotted for you to ask questions about this successful program and consider ways Florida could implement a similar program.
