Did you know that Florida College Access Network (FCAN)’s Talent Strong Florida Summit brings together the brightest minds and the strongest leaders in education today? This spring marks 10 years of FCAN’s statewide impact on students and continuing education!
FCAN is at the heart of a growing movement to realize Florida’s untapped talent in its students. This Summit is where educators can collaborate in real time in order to create real, actionable solutions for all students.
NY Times Bestselling Author Ashley Rhodes-Courter (“Three Little Words”), who will serve as the keynote speaker during the summit’s Welcome Luncheon on May 10, is the quintessential American success story. Born in 1985 to a single teen mother, by the age of 3 she was in Florida’s foster care system where she spent almost ten years being shuttled between 14 homes before being adopted from a Children’s Home at the age of twelve. Despite her ordeal, she excelled in school because she believed that, “my education was the one thing nobody could take from me.”
FCAN is also thrilled to welcome Awards Luncheon keynote speaker Dr. Tonjua Williams, who serves as the seventh President of St. Petersburg College. She is nationally recognized as an expert in transforming departments and institutions through student development and strategic planning. She has received many awards and recognitions — most recently the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development’s John E. Roueche International Leadership Award, the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Businesswoman of the Year award, and as one of the top 25 women in higher education by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.
Dynamic sponsorship opportunities still exist, and the benefits are boundless. Not only do they mean you can reach educators, policymakers, and administrators who share your vision for Florida, but the Summit also represents the starting point for community building. Students impacted by FCAN’s work will meet the demands of the 21st-century workplace, and their success will enable their communities-across Florida to flourish.
Did you know:
- Our College Ready Florida initiatives have grown 200% over the last 4 years to include more than 450 schools.
- We help a larger network of organizations across the state continue to provide the support system for students that need small interventions (transportation, illness, childcare, etc.) just to stay in school
- FCAN is the heart of the movement that grew degree attainment 4.5% from 2012 to 2019.
This is a great opportunity to reach Florida’s best and brightest — and a great way to make a BIG IMPACT.
