FCAN will once again offer an early glimpse at some of the best practices and fresh approaches for making education beyond high school accessible to all students that you can expect to hear at the 2022 Talent Strong Florida Summit.

We are excited to bring back our Summit Speaker Series podcast, a collection of brief interviews that will be featured on the Florida College Access Network Podcast. The series gives a select group of speakers and presenters the opportunity to share a sneak peek at their sessions prior to the summit, which is set for May 10-11 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista South.

The 2022 Talent Strong Florida Summit will feature nearly 40 sessions connected to FCAN’s Seven Conditions That Create a Resilient Workforce and Spark Economic Mobility.

The sessions and speakers featured in FCAN’s 2022 Summit Speaker Series are: (Links to each podcast will be added to the list below as they become available, and this post will be updated as we add more speakers to the lineup.)

March 2: Supporting the Unique Needs of LGBTQ Students in College and Career, featuring Nikole Parker, Director of Transgender Equality, Equality Florida; and Andrew Lent, Healthcare Equity Trainer, Equality Florida.

March 9: Building College and Career Cultures in Rural Florida, featuring Mary Chance, President, Consortium of Florida Education Foundations; and Tracy Burger, Director of Member Development, Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.

March 16: Equity in College Counseling: Building a Program That Serves ALL, featuring Dr. Erin Almond, Director of Equity and Engagement, KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools; Rashid Williams, Director of KIPP Forward, KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools; and Ricky Glover, Manager of Postsecondary Placement; KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools.

March 23: Supporting Student Mental Healthfeaturing Dr. Cindy Topdemir, School Counseling M.A. Program Coordinator & Associate Professor of Instruction, University of South Florida; and Jenny Ritz, School Counselor and Recent Graduate of USF’s School Counseling M.A. Program.
